Introduction to our farm

Although our farm was purchased in 2015, the Parry family can trace their roots back to farming as far as seven continuous generations.  One of my husband’s ancestors, Benjamin Parry, invented a process for preserving corn and grain for long distance shipping in 1810 and operated the New Hope Flour Mill in New Hope, PA for many years.

On our farm, we raise poultry on a large scale.  We also have quickly grown our herd of cows which includes Registered Mini Herefords, regular sized Herefords and Black Angus.  My husband grows hay, corn, soybeans and wheat – much of which is used to feed our cows.

Our farm boasts an 832 panel (274.56 kw) solar system.  In addition to offsetting high energy costs and reducing our carbon footprint, the system is designed to provide a cool place during warmer months for our chickens to enjoy the grass pasture areas.  In the first year alone, the system offset 266 tons of carbon dioxide; 6,193 trees and 561 barrels of oil.  We also have plenty of woods and vegetative areas where you can often see deer, butterflies, herons and other wildlife.
